Being Female
Excerpt from the chapter
First, let’s look at both sexes’ attributes.
Basic masculine attributes include the aspects of goal-directed focusing, mental awareness, organizing of life into divisions or pigeonholes, and creating doctrine-based structures..
Basic feminine attributes are the aspects of connectedness, relatedness, and defuse, multidirectional, feeling-based awareness. The feminine awareness is inherently unlimited. It can touch the face of God. The masculine has no idea what this means..
A striking example of how women lose their natural perception of womanhood is seen in our generations of women unschooled, unprepared, and unwelcomed into the ebb and flow of womanhood: menstruation. Blood has become a symbol of a bothersome and painful humiliation, rather than being part of the wonder of the “miracle of life.” It is something to be handled, pigeonholed, so as not to interfere with a productive life. Think about this last sentence; does it sound feminine or masculine?.
It is the latter. The aggressive patriarchal thinking in the form of the pressures caused by social, economic, religious, and cultural demands distort women’s access to their wellspring. A woman’s time in the Red Tent3 has been relegated to mental procedures, tampons and minimalizing distractions. Sacredness is the price demanded and exacted for this trivialization. The trickster energy corrupts a women’s intuitive nature by offering easily deceptive baubles as a substitute to the sacredness offered up..
We must balance all of our natural elements: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. These efforts, of and by themselves, become our most important teachers. These are the tools of experience that come not from books or lecture, but from being there. Be conscious of what forces are at play; these are the fires that bake the pottery, making them strong, solid and mature. We could all mature earlier, except that we are taught methods that insulate us from these fires in the name of propriety, conformity, and acceptability. This blockheadedness is the limiting, destructive nature inherent within the Patriarchy. It attacks our intuitive faith, our will to breakout of convention and question life, or worse, it trivializes our dreams and subsequently our finding of purpose..
Put on your Sherlock Holmes hat and investigate, intuit, and weigh the results. Look for what damage has occurred and change it, using gobs of forgiveness, and become more aware of incoming bombshells of self-doubt. Just as important, be aware of what wonderful things you have experienced and accomplished.
